Work experience in companies

What is this?
- The most important characteristic of the unpaid work experience placement (PPNL) is that they take place in a real production environment, where students can observe and carry out the functions of the different occupations related to a profession, learn about the organisation of the production processes or services and the social and labour relations in the company or work centre. Students will be guided and advised at all times by those responsible for their monitoring and assessment, who will be designated for this purpose by the workplace and the training centre.
- The work placement does not imply the existence of an employment or public service relationship between the student and the work centre. Therefore, the students will not receive any remuneration for their training activity, nor for the results that may derive from it.
- To select a possible company to carry out the PPNL, the training centres may use the services of local Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Navigation.
- Students are covered, in all cases, by accident insurance taken out by the training centre.
- The training centre, together with the company, will draw up the training programme for the PPNL, which will include the content, duration, location and timetable for the PPNL and the tutoring system for monitoring and evaluation.
- The company will appoint, from among its staff, an instructor who will supervise and technically support the students throughout the PPNL, distribute the tasks among the students, and collaborate in their evaluation.

Advantages for the student
- The opportunity to apply what they have learnt in the training centres and to demonstrate the professional skills they have acquired in a company and in real work situations.
- Knowledge of the socio-labour organisation of the sector and in particular of a typical work centre or company.
- Gaining maturity for future learning and adapting their skills to changes in the productive sector.
- Knowledge of the type of jobs offered in a given production sector, their functional and organisational relationships, how tasks are related to each other, specific techniques and procedures related to the occupations and jobs associated with their qualification.
- Possibility of gaining employment, given the significant percentage of students who are hired in the companies where they have taken their PPNL.
