Erasmus+

What is Erasmus+?

The European Union's Erasmus+ programme promotes education, training, youth, and sport in Europe by facilitating mobility and cooperation. This programme offers mobility opportunities for teaching staff and students from various educational systems, including vocational education and training (VET).

Who are we?

The National Reference Centre (NRC) for Wood, Furniture and Cork, under the auspices of Labora, is part of a network of centres dedicated to innovation and experimentation in VET. In line with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, the NRC actively participates in international programmes and initiatives.

Our experience Erasmus+. VET-WOOD Project

The NRC's first international mobility experience took place in Italy, in collaboration with the Fondazione ENAIP of Lombardy, specifically at its headquarters in Cantú. This institution, with extensive experience in wood and furniture training, as well as other European projects, were ideal partners for these initiatives.

In February 2022, the NRC submitted an application for the VET-WOOD – Wood Vocational Training project, under the Erasmus+ KA122-VET programme. This project, approved by the SEPIE (Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education), the Spanish National Agency for the management of the Erasmus+ programme, facilitated the mobility of teaching staff and technical personnel in VET for Employment.

This project, approved by the SEPIE (Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education), the Spanish National Agency for the management of the Erasmus+ programme, facilitated the mobility of teaching staff and technical personnel in VET for Employment.

A group of teachers and technical staff from the NRC carried out two visits to the Milan region in northern Italy, lasting 6 and 5 days respectively, in April 2023 and February 2024.

The VET-WOOD project pursued the following objectives:

  • To visit a similar training centre and its wood machining equipment.
  • To experiment with software based on innovative technologies.
  • To share experiences with Italian teachers and students.
  • To carry out practical training with CNC machining centres, digital design, 3D printing and laser cutting.
  • To analyse the integration of these technologies in the NRC.
  • To observe innovative learning methodologies.

In addition to the training activities, the programme included visits to companies in the wood and furniture sector in northern Italy, showrooms of international firms, and attendance at the Milan International Furniture Fair.

The VET-WOOD project has allowed the NRC for Wood, Furniture and Cork to broaden its horizons, acquire knowledge about new technologies and learning methodologies, and establish collaborative links with leading European institutions.
