CONSTRUCTION WITH WOOD. SUSTAINABLE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING*

 26 November 2021

Programmed by the National Reference Centre for Wood and Cork Transformation and Installation.

It was a free, hybrid classroom and online event organised by the Comunitat Valenciana Wood and Furniture Business Federation (FEVAMA) with the collaboration of the Technological Institute of Metalworking, Furniture, Wood, Packaging and Related Industries (AIDIMME).

*Financed by the State Public Employment Service.

It was aimed at professionals in the wood construction and installation sector, business and trade union organisations, companies in the subsector, teachers and vocational training students.

The aim of this technical seminar was to reflect, from the business and vocational training side of the group of professionals in the WFC sector, on how wood construction is being approached in a sustainable manner.

Energy saving in construction is a hot topic that is being raised from different political, social and economic perspectives.

This forum provided information on how the role of wood in construction and the training of professionals is making more habitable and sustainable wooden spaces a reality, both from the business and educational sectors.

Companies, experts in the areas of wood and energy saving, alongside business and trade union organisations, as well as institutions linked to the environment, employment and education were present.

The presentations dealt with the following topics:

  • Building with wood in a sustainable manner.
  • Energy saving in construction and the role of wood in this.
  • Training professionals to make more sustainable wooden spaces a reality.

The three workshops into which it was divided provided both a business and a training perspective. In the first, the main ideas on how to carry out fully sustainable timber constructions were presented. The second workshop discussed energy saving and efficiency and the circular economy in the sector, and the third workshop addressed the issue of vocational training and the need to train professionals in new skills in the field of sustainability.
