HISTORY OF OUR CENTRE
Built by the former National Employment Institute (INEM), which is now the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), it began its activity in 1990 and provided its services within the aforementioned Institute until 1999, when its ownership was transferred to the Generalitat Valenciana by Royal Decree 2673/19988
From 1993 until 2015, under Royal Decree 631/1993, of 3 May, which regulates the National Vocational Training and Insertion Plan, it was classified as a National Occupational Vocational Training Centre (CNFPO) serving the group of professionals in the wood and cork industries.
Since 2015 the centre has been classified, under Royal Decree 872/2015 as a National Reference Centre for Vocational Training in Wood and Cork Transformation and Installation (CRNFP) serving the group of professionals in the wood, furniture and cork sector.
The centre has recently been remodelled by LABORA, Valencian Employment and Training Service, in order to offer a better service of vocational training, employment guidance and innovation activities in accordance with the demand of the business network, and especially for the wood working sector.
The network of national reference centres is regulated by Royal Decree 229/2008 , and when at its full complement, will include up to 50 CRNFPs, as proposed by the Ministry of Employment and Social Security and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training to the General Council of Vocational Training.
Throughout its time, the centre has been an active participant in all the activities related to the analysis and improvement in the training field of the wood-furniture-cork sector, such as the analysis of the labour market, training planning, structuring of training content, preparation of educational resources, preparation of tests for certifications, professional qualifications, professional certificates, etc.
The centre is, thus, now a reference point in vocational training for the wood, furniture and cork productive sector, as well as for the two vocational training subsystems (initial vocational training and vocational training for employment) due to its innovative, experimental and training activities.
On the other hand, the centre carries out its activities integrated into the business environment of its local area, located as it is in the ‘Fuente del Jarro' Business Park in the town of Paterna (Valencia). It maintains numerous contacts and undertakes various projects and collaborations with town councils, companies, business and trade union organisations, educational centres, R&D&I organisations and/or training providers/agents in the field of labour insertion, training innovation, etc.
